On Thursday, April 7, 2022, at 3:00 p.m., Thursday in the collections will be held on Facebook Live and on the YouTube channel of the National Nature Collections.
And this time: not only trees are cut down: incomplete stories from the herbarium archive.
A spotlight on the historical archive of the herb: what is an archive of herb? (Different from the herbarium sheets themselves or from the library) we will present two types of materials that exist in the archive:
1. Historical photographs from East Asia (late 19th century) and the Land of Israel (early 20th century);
2. A glimpse of the work process on the definer for the plants of the Land of Israel (what were the first publications based on; comments to the first definer; the work process and the issues the first botanists focused on; and more). Also, we will focus on the estate of Alexander Ig which was discovered only about 4 months ago, who was Ig and what materials were found in his estate?
Participating: Tair Rochman, director of the Herb Archive
